A Wish

A Wish

Yesterday I volunteered at Wonderboy’s Nursery School for the first time ever. My schedule allowed for some flexibility and so I jumped at the opportunity to see my Wonderboy in a school environment. We had a glorious morning. He did everything he was asked– obeyed, followed the rules, played nicely and even came to snuggle and kiss me several times. As we made our way home, I said longingly to Wonderboy,

“I wish I could come to Nursery School everyday with you.”

“Ya, me too,” he replied sweetly.

This morning as we were preparing to leave the house to go our respective ways, Wonderboy turns to me and says,

“Wemember what you said to me yesteday? You wish you could come to nu-sue-wee school eveweeday?”

I did remember, but a wish and a can is not the same, my dear and darling Wonderboy.

A Perfect Mother, in a Perfect World, would not have to work….sigh.

KINeSYS Sunscreen for Children

KINeSYS Sunscreen for Children

Ta-da!! I finally found spray on sunscreen for Wonderboy and Queenie that according to EWG is safe! I purchased it today at Costco, $18.99 for 2 bottles, 120mL each. I grabbed 4 because I know that come summer, these will be a challenge to locate. Check out EWG here.

A Perfect Mother would have located this product years ago, even perhaps before birth!

Happy Rainbow Sunglasses

Happy Rainbow Sunglasses

Well, I’ve done it. I’ve done the ultimate mother thing. I bought my baby daughter a pair of plastic sunglasses which all my life I have thought was a horrid and ridiculous thing for parents to do–waste money on an item a child won’t keep on for even but a few seconds.

A Perfect Mother would have never purchased these plastic sunglasses to take pictures with so when Queenie is 25 she can say, “Oh Ma, why did you make me wear those?”

Talking Bubbles

Talking Bubbles

There must be a strong genetic disposition to having verbose qualities. My children both possess my strong genetic material. It runs rampant in their blood. Wonderboy always has something to share-always. It usually carries on ad nauseum and makes no sense to anyone but him. Queenie, at 21 months can string together 2 word phrases and has been doing so for  quite sometime. While shopping, I realized she was not carrying the baby my mother had given her. I asked her where it was and coaxed her to go find the baby. It was just down the aisle a wee bit. She went happily to retrieve her dolly. As we continued to browse she just said, “Found baby.”

Guffah! Is this awesome, or what?

I love you to the moon and back, Queenie. You are the tiny princess pretty feet of my heart!

A Perfect Mother would talk less and listen more…

Skeleton

Skeleton

As of late, Wonderboy has shown a keen interest in all books non-fiction. We have been trying to add to our already bursting and abundant collection of books, but I’ve been trying to expose him to as many diverse topics as possible. I want him to have an interest in a vast array of topics, but the ones he really seems to fancy are non-fiction books about the body, in particular the skeleton, bones, blood and looking inside the body!! Yesterday he asked if he could look inside his body. Insert teachable moment now. NO was the short and long answer.

A Perfect Mother would have stopped cooking, pulled out a science chart/diagram and proceeded to give a mini-lesson on the innards. Instead, I did a Google Image search on the skeleton. See above. This seemed to quench his thirst; that was until tonight, when after his bath he asked, “Where’s my bwad? (Translate: blood with speech impediment)

Rain

Rain

We took a jaunt to Wal-Mart today. Wonderboy needed some personal essentials. As we are going though the store, Wonderboy exclaims, “Look, Mommy, look! They have boots. They have Wal-Mart boots. They so nice for Wal-Mart boots!” We just purchased Wonderboy and Queenie some rain boots from Wal-Mart and as people hae been commenting on them, I’ve been saying, “Can you believe they are from Wal-Mart? Pretty nice, huh?”

I believe he has been listening in.

A Perfect Mother wouldn’t disenfranchise WAL-MART openly to her children!
